Making Your Store Windows Work for You

You are walking down the street, various shops on either side of you. Suddenly, you stop…something has caught your eye…this is the magic of successful window display. What is placed in a shop window lets the public know what your shop is about. Window displays that draws the consumer in can be the real difference in how well your shop succeeds.

The type of display is going to depend on a few factors. First of all, what type of windows or display areas do you have available to use? If on a street setting, the best is to have a large clear glass window area that is clear of obstructions. Usually in buildings built for retail, the windows are tall, which works well for a “full-effect” display. If a smaller window area is available, you will want to make the most of it. Any window on a shop is better than none, for the window on a retail space is the first impression that a consumer gets of your business. This first look can make the public want to stop in, or keep on walking.

Make the most of what is available to work with. When putting together your display, you want to keep it simple and to the point. If there is too much going on, the consumer will be overwhelmed and keep walking. However, use all that is at your disposal. If you are working in a retail clothing shop, a mannequin is the best way to let potential customers see how a particular item will look when worn, which is much more appealing than an article of clothing simply hanging on a hanger. Using bright, attractive color palettes will also draw the eye inward.

Most importantly, window displays, whether in a local shop or at a trade show, is there to give the consumer a first impression of your shop. With practice and some creativity, your windows will soon be pulling in new customers; ladies footwear.
