Airsoft Shotguns

For close quarter battles, none is ever the better than the shotgun. Designed to fire multiple rounds in a single shot, the shotgun is the primary choice followed by the rifle when close hostile encounters are expect. Although its size cannot compete with the Airsoft Uzi, manufacturers made sure that the size will not compromise the firepower this weapon can pack to fit CQBs or simple skirmishes. Airsoft shotguns also have a 1:1 ratio versus the real ones when it comes to size.

Some use the shotgun as a primary weapon of choice along side a pistol while some use it as the secondary weapon. Just like the real shotgun counterpart, Airsoft shotguns can spray out 20-30 BB per shot and spreads out just like a net for more effectiveness and accuracy. For an experienced user, this weapon can be as deadly as sniper rifle. Since Airsoft shotguns are simple in design unlike rifles, the body is commonly made from materials like aluminum or plastic for a more durable yet lightweight gun.

All shotguns available in the market are spring powered that requires cocking for a more realistic firing shotgun.

Some guns require cocking per shot while some can be cocked multiple times for multiple firing. Maintenance and repair is not tedious because of minimal parts.

The feeding system of different shotguns designed by different Airsoft gun manufacturers differs a lot. Some uses a magazine like the Smith and Wesson Full Metal M3000 Shotgun which can hold four rounds of BBs. This weapon’s barrel is full metal while the stock and hand guard are made from lightweight but durable polymer. The ACM M180D2 Full Stock Shotgun uses shells to mimic the real ones and can hold 30 rounds per shell. The downside of this shotgun is that the user will have to keep an eye on the shells because they tend to get lost while in the field. Another feeding system design uses the force of gravity by putting the loading slot right on top of the stock.

In the real world, either a sawed-off or break-action, a shotgun has become one of the most popular types of weapon that is used by law enforcement or military today. Its history dates back to medieval times but its concept stays the same. In the Airsoft community, this weapon befits a novice and a veteran.
