Select good cushions for tailbone pain relief
Aug 10, 2010
First of all following the physician’s diagnosis with coccyx discomfort, broken coccyx or swelling you need to prevent direct strain from pushing the tailbone. This may be prevented by using a comfortable coccyx seat cushion and there are various kinds that will be discussed below.
A wedge cutout design pillow to support the coccyx.
The most important thing to realize is that if you sit down in a seat you must prevent pressure and don’t let the coccyx touch your seat. This is done is by having a hollow section in the pillow cushion for the coccyx so this will guarantee that as you are seated the coccyx rests in the hollow cut and doesn’t touch your seat. The wedge supports correct posture when someone is seated. This guarantees the pelvis is leaning forward so this will support the whole body weight in a forward position.
Donut pillows or seat cushions shaped like a ring for the coccyx. Donut pillows resemble a donut and this helps in some situations but does not help in other situations and it is easy to figure out why it does not work. Because these cushions are formed like a donut the coccyx rests on the seat anyway and this is bad. A wedge designed cushion is better or if you snip part of the donut cushion or ring formed pillow so it becomes a tailbone cushion.
Cushions that have hallow openings are most appropriate and easy to find, also called a Tush-cush. Also gel cushions are available. It is based on what people prefer. So be sure you have the most comfortable accessories as far as cushions and continue to try different cushions until you find one that works. In the first place after a diagnosis from the doctor, for your coccyx pain, coccyx fracture or swollen coccyx, the tailbone should not have strong pressure placed on it. You can avoid this with a nice donut seat cushion for your coccyx and a few types can be used that I will discuss next.
